Zen Buddhism
Zen is a school of Mahayana Buddhism that originated in China and spread throughout Asia and the West. Zen hinges on several philosophical premises from the Yogachara, Tathāgatagarbha sūtras, Buddha-nature, the Bodhisattva ideal, and the Prajñāpāramitā and Madhyamaka thought. Zen emphasizes simplicity, present moment awareness, non-daulity, nonconceptual understanding and ‘zazen’ (just sitting) meditation. Zen teachings stress mental clarity as a way of experiencing the ultimate reality — the non-dualistic, vibrant, subtle, and interconnected nature of all life.
